Paul Williams Jr (Born September 7, 1966) is a soul an R&B singer, mostly known for being the son of legendary Motown recording artist Paul Williams of The Temptations. Paul Williams was an American baritone singer and choreographer most noted for being one of the founding members and original lead singer of the profound group The Temptations along with Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin.
Paul Williams Jr was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan to Paul and Mary Williams. Williams is the youngest of five siblings all being raised by their mother and grandmother. Williams began singing and dancing at the age of 10 being inspired by his 3 older sisters to enter a talent showcase with them at a local boys and girls club. By growing up in a household filled with dance and music Williams took on the challenge as they went on to take 1st place immolating The Jackson 5. Williams other inspirations came from singing in church as well as listening to the popular R&B artist of the 60s, 70s & 80s throughout his childhood. Together with his 3 sisters, Williams displayed an interest of talent for music and harmonizing that would one day lead him to the top like his father. Throughout his teenage and mid adult life, Williams has been in various Detroit groups. Some known as 4 Deep, Special Touch, Phase 5, Poem & Sky High with dreams of making it big in the music industry. Williams a self taught musician teaching himself how to play drums and percussions at the age of seven.
Growing up Williams endured many days of depression trying to cope with the lost of his father, not being able to share childhood memories of his father like his friends would do with their fathers most of the time feeling abandoned and left out. Heavenly being influenced by his mother she would say Paul Jr if your father was still alive he would be so proud of you. You could be whatever you want to be because you share the same qualities as your father. Your father was truly indeed a great man, loved and missed by everyone; we all miss him very much. To relieve his mind Williams joined a youth organization called Boy Scouts and then took on multi sports activities such as Football, Basketball, Track and Field, and Martial Arts becoming a 3rd degree black belt studying Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. Up until the year of March 2008 Williams finally retired his jersey from playing semi pro football to begin his new career joining a group with another legendary Motown artist Dennis Edwards.
